Toowoomba Region Flood Damage Repair

Client

Toowoomba City Council

Location

Toowoomba Region

Project Scope and Challenges:

The project brief was to win, crush and blend road base for use as re-sheeting material for flood damaged roads in the Toowoomba region. The client requested that we stockpile road base material in various council pits to a specified quantity and quality. Production was also required within a strict timeframe.

To achieve this project JCB sought qualifications under the Quarrying and Mining Act Regulations including: Generic Induction, QMS 123, First Aid certificates and mine medicals. JCB were then accredited as a Site Senior Executive (SSE) in Quarrying and Mining.

Having gained supplier status JCB set to work constructing access roads and production stockpiling space in the various Council owned pits. EPA dams and drains were established to manage run off at the pits. Crushing and screening plants were brought to site to produce material with the abrasion and hardness standard of -26.5mm required by Council. Haul roads were constructed for the removal of product from the quarry with material transported to a production hardstand for stockpiling. To date JCB has produced 250,000 tonne of material for road repairs.
